Whistling
Duck Farm is located in the Applegate Valley of Southern Oregon between Medford
and Grants Pass. It is our home, farmstead and livelihood. Our farm is Oregon
Tilth certified organic, ecologically based and located on 22 acres of fertile,
deep loam soils at an elevation of 1149 ft.. Our farming methods, coupled
with excellent soils and an ideal climate allows us to grow high quality,
nutritious produce for our local community.

After five years of field experience and learning about our community, in 1997 we began our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, which has provided a unique connection with our local clientele for nine years. We're taking a season off from our CSA in 2006 to pursue building a strawbale house and to give more time to our family, as our second child is due in July. We plan to offer our CSA again starting in May 2007.
In 2005 we also opened our on-site Farm store, which we will expand upon in 2006. Check out the heading for "Farm store" for directions and a regularly updated listing of seasonal hours and offerings. Our location right on Highway 238 provides us an incredible opportunity to not just sell vegetables but to really show our local community what small-scale ecological farming is all about.
Since 1993 we have welcomed many people interested in pursuing farming
as their living to learn and work with us as interns and grower's assistants.
We feel one of the most important things we can do is help others learn
about small-scale ecological farming and assess how best to pursue and apply
their interests in it.
By successfully integrating for-profit, community-based farming and ecological
land use, we hope to sustain ourselves, feed others and provide an example
of a viable alternative for farmers and consumers alike.
